On Monday, I was invited by my uncle at the contract signing ceremony of 220 kV grid station at Khuzdar and 220 kV Dadu-Khuzdar (300 km) double circuit transmission line project. The ceremony was at WAPDA House Lahore. It is a turnkey project and my uncle’s company will be constructing the grid station, another Pakistani company is responsible for transmission line, an Iranian company will provide equipment for grid station, and NESPAK is the consultant. Chairman NTDC and the three companies signed the contract. It is a very challenging project because of the law and order situation in the region and it will improve power supply to Balochistan.
After the signing ceremony, lunch was served at Avari and it was great.

A U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft returns to the fight after receiving fuel from a KC-135 Stratotanker during a mission over Afghanistan. A-10 is deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom and the KC-135 is assigned to the 22nd Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, 376th Air Expeditionary Wing Manas Air Base Kyrgyzstan and is deployed from 141st Air Refueling Wing Fairchild Air Force Base Wash.

My nephew was born on 19 May but first official birthday was celebrated yesterday at Memories Restaurant. There was a small birthday at 19th of last month. Now all the children were in Lahore because of summer vacation, and wanted to celebrate the birthday.

This picture is not of Gaddafi Stadium. Also, this is not the only ground in Lahore with flood lights. Matches are played under flood lights, especially on weekends. Who says we are facing power crisis?

Today I came across photosbymonicamichele's Photostream at Flickr. The pictures reminded me of National Horse and Cattle Show.

Several years ago, National Horse & Cattle Show was an important festival. It used to be held in Fortress Stadium, Lahore. It was revived after eight years in 2004 and was never held again. Such shows are held in other cities on a smaller scale.

Performance (unity show / physical exercise) of school children was a major attraction of the festival. Children of our government school had to perform each year, I remember months of training and free refreshments.
